World Teachers' Day also known as International Teacher's day is celebrated on 5 October each year.
World Teachers' Day was inaugurated on 5th October 1994 by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) to commemorate the 1966 joint signing of the UNESCO/ILO (International Labour Organisation) Recommendation concerning the status of Teachers.
This year's theme, "The right to Education means the right to a qualified Teacher", has been chosen to remind the global concerning that right to Education can not be achieved without a right to trained and qualified teachers.
We celebrate WDT not only to show appreciation for teachers all over the world but also to be used as a day to assess amd help teachers improve and look at the different issues that affect teachers.
